Happy Hanukkah! Merry Christmas!

Even though our Enrichment Center is now open in the “self-checkout” mode due to the COVID surge, we are aware that lots of our folks who are attending church in person are interested in seeing what books we recommend for Christmas gifts for all ages. With the closure of so many brick and mortar bookstores these days, people are very interested in recommendations. By having items on our library shelves, we are recommending books and DVDs for purchase even though we are not selling them. I’m hoping the publishers figure this out in 2021 and appreciate what we are doing for them.

Collection Development: Biographies

Since we are all busy with holiday activities now, I am reminding you of a discussion we started November 23. This past week, Martha Hancock made a great point for us to keep in mind about teenagers and biographies. Having biographies written for teenagers is great but pointing them to the adult collection of biographies is a smart move.

Christmas and Hanukkah Displays

Lee Smith and Marty Woodall posted their display pictures last week. Please post pictures of your displays here. Click on the red square with a white plus sign on the right side of the photos/videos to add your display pictures to our collection.

Collection Development: Christmas and Hanukkah Books

Not too late to post titles of your church or synagogue family’s favorite season related books and DVDs. Click here.

Promotion: Library Christmas Activities

Only a few of you viewed this post last week. Bobbie Griffin posted how things are this season in her church due to COVID. I must admit due to the COVID surge, we decided to only open the door for self-checkout during these weeks since none of our team are attending in person. Perhaps the best use of this conversation is sharing what our teams have done in the past with people in our churches and communities during this time of year. Click here.

Have a great week! Be safe!
