Greetings!

Let’s continue to pray for the people of Israel and the innocent people of Gaza.

Church Cookbooks?

Emily Belz is a staff writer for Christianity Today. She emailed me the following:

“I'm writing about what happened to church cookbooks; do any churches still produce them? What is the story and timeline of their decline? Do librarians keep these archived?”

Click here to fill out her questionnaire. And click here to participate in a CLN discussion about church cookbooks. And what about cookbooks in general in our collections?

Church Library Ministry Information Service: FREE

Recently, Lifeway.com no longer has this resource for sale. As I have done with other church library ministry resources that went out of print, I asked the Publishing Vice President if they would consider giving us a license to give away the pdf edition. Without hesitation, he agreed.

The original edition was published in 2004. Our team updated it in 2013. What about the changes in church libraries in the past 10 years? I have already started attaching this book to emails to our new members who are all starting or restarting or revitalizing church libraries. We are giving it to all of you now. Click here

What is the Scope of Your Church Library?

Melanie Makin is a new CLN member. She is starting a great conversation for us to share what we do and who we are in the life of your church families. Her questions are broad so select what you would like to share in this conversation. Click here.

“People Don’t Want a Friendly Church”

Lifeway Research posted recent research results titled “People Don’t Want a Friendly Church.” I’m sure the title itself hooks all of us. This article describes ways that our book clubs or whatever you call them help people connect in meaningful ways. We do the same thing by having a jigsaw puzzle available for people get to know each other while they work the puzzle. What do you find here?

 The World Radio

In case you did not hear the two recent podcasts focused on church libraries, they featured two members of the CLN: Denise Roberts and Joan Hoyt. In fact, last Tuesday we had 14 new CLN members as a result of these podcasts stemming from The World Radio.
