i recommend LibraryThing combined with TinyCat. LibraryThng manages your materials. If you add Tags, it can be searched. Tags is their word for Subjects. I added Tags for not only the subject, but also the reading level. Especially handy for Baby, Preschool, Elementary, and Teen categories.
TinyCat manages your patrons and allows them to log in select books, renew items and pushs out overdue notices. There is a small fee for this app depending on your number of items. For a volunteer library, it is $3/month up to 500 items; $4/month up to 1,000 items, $6/month up to 2,000 items, $8/month up to 5,000 items, and so forth. Very reasonable.
Search for both and read their information and watch the YouTube videos. I found them intuitive to use.
I made our church's online cataloge using LibraryThing and it was so easy, I loved it! That is, I loved it until I tried searching by subject and realized that could not be done. One must know the author's name or at least one word in the title. I am extreamly dissappointed and am now searching for another *free* platform on which to build our online card catalog.
I've used the "tag" feature to include call numbers, but am I understanding you correctly that a search will bring tag results as well as titles and author names?

It's easier to search and sort in LibraryThing if you just put one type of info in TAGS - many people put subject there. For Call Numbers, consider putting that info under one of the choices LibraryThing gives you under the "Classification" heading you'll see when you use "Edit Book". To get to "Edit Book", go to the book's page after you've entered it into your library and you'll see "Edit Book" on the left side of that page. Under "Classification" your choices are: Dewey, Library of Congress or "Other Call Number", which you'd want if you use something other than Dewey or Library of Congress. The "Classification" heading will show you the best fit (?most commonly used) call number for both Dewey and Library of Congress and let you confirm it. If you want to use a different Dewey or Library of Congress number, you can enter that then and that's what will show up when people search your catalog.
It would pretty easy to clean up what you've got entered under TAGS now. Start on your home page, click on "YOUR BOOKS" at the top of the page and then set up a page with a "Style" that has title, author, Tags and the Call Number system you want shown. Then all the info you want is in one place and you could edit 20 books per page by just moving your Call Number info from TAGS to DEWEY/MELVIL etc.
If you enter your books on LibraryThing you can sign up for TinyCat and get a QR code for it so your patrons can search from anywhere using their phone or computer. Surprisingly easy to use.

any suggestions will be unbelievably appreciated!
You need to add TAGS to each item to create a subject search.

Yes.
Interesting! I'll have to check it out. Our church library needs something on computer & so I'm beginning my research.

Ann, I am using the free version of LibraryThing--do you happen to know if TinyCat is free, as well?
