I came across an article in the ALSC blog on how one library has reorganized the shelving of Children's non-fiction book. Their idea is to select a small number of subjects and file books within those headings in Dewey order.

My thoughts: Seems like a good idea, but I feel that Church libraries probably don't have large collections of children's non-fiction. A change would not be worth the effort.

IIf children's books are classified using Dewey numbers, they should already be in that order, with the possible exception as to how that subject is treated. A subject title along with the books on that subject would assist patrons to find other books on that subject. I don't see that any re-arranging of the books would be necessary.
