Do any of you write a newsletter or include information in your bulletin to promote books and other media in the library? If so, do you find it to be successful? I would love to see examples of what you do.
Here is a sample of our article that goes into the monthly newsletter that goes out online or a physical copy people can pick up. I also put pics of the books we are promoting.
WHAT’S NEW IN THE LIBRARY?
We miss seeing you!! Stay safe. Thank you, Vickie Leonard for taking books and puzzles to people during this unusual time. Also, thanks for the idea of having a ‘mobile’ library cart in the parking lot.
MEMORIALS:
Gary and Vickie Leonard have placed a book from the Sugar Creek Amish Mysteries series “A Play on Words” in the library in memory of Mary Lou Wetzel.
Men’s II SS Class has placed the book “Jesus” by Max Lucado in the library in memory of Douglas ‘Bubba’ Tolley, Dean Tolley’s brother.
HONORIARIUM:
The book “Digging Up Doubts” from the Sugar Creek Amish Mysteries series was placed in the library by Dean & Floy Grindstaff in honor of Gordon & Karen Kyte for their service to our church.
We have over 400 books, kits, & books on CD that deal with Christian living - grace, Holy Spirit, grief, death/dying, illness, disappointment, life applications for Christians, etc. Some authors are: Priscilla Shirer, Tony Evans, Andy & Charles Stanley, Greg Laurie, John Piper, R.A. Torrey, Beth Moore, Lysa Terkeurst, David Jeremiah, Jennifer Rothschild, Joel Rosenberg, J.I. Packer, Jennie Allen. Let us encourage you to use these as tools to grow you in your Christian walk.
With so many Bible translations available, it’s hard to know which one to choose. This book will help you understand the differences and will help you find the one that is right for you.
This newsletter also promoted 4 books by Andrew Klavan. I put in pics of all 4 in this series.
We are promoting our Quarantine Summer Reading Club 2020 in the church bulletin: The Quarantine Summer Reading Club 2020 is here! Sunday, June 7th thru Sunday, August 16th! Check the Welcome Center for details. (Included is a picture of a child reading a book wearing a mask.)
Yes, we finally started a bimonthly in 2019. A PDF can be found on our church's web site at www.fba.org. Select Ministries, then Media Library. You'll find a link to it in the right column. There's also a link to it on our Atriuum catalog page under the Links tab. We run a regular (weekly) display ad for the library in the church bulletin; it contains only times and location. Would love to see some others -- need some new ideas.

I enjoyed reading your newsletter and must admit, I am somewhat jealous of all your resources! It would be great to one day have ebooks, especially now with people concerned about personal contact/stay at home orders, etc. I would love to be added to your email list if that is possible to received future issues as well.
thank you, Bev. Send your preferred mailing address to me at library@fba.org and I'll put you on the mailing list. Check with OverDrive. It has become more affordable than in previous years.
I am working on an insert to place in our bulletin. Not all of our members have email.
It is going to say this, "Too Hot to Go Out", Feeling Blue about the News?, Tired of the junk on TV?,
CHECK OUT our new library. Guaranteed to provide an island of peace and inspiration in this crazy world."
I have found some very cute graphics to insert next to each comment.
Yes, we publish a newsletter every month (since 2016, I think). We include book reviews, author features, and much more. We print a few copies and send it out by email to the church body and also to a separate email list of other interested people. I can add anyone who is interested to our mailing list - email me at dtdehart@gmail.com
