The Last Orphan

Jearldine Tolson asked me to post a recommended book:

The Last Orphan byJeffrey Lowder

  • The Last Orphan is a wonderful historical fiction about the orphans who were rescued from a train during the Arkansas massacre in 1857. The story is about a search for an orphan child by his grandparents. Jeffrey Lowder has developed the characters well and who are very relatable.

  • Accroding to a reviewer on Amazon, it has to do with a Mormon polygamous family.

  • Is it a Christian perspective? If not, what would be the concerns that, as a librarian, we would need to be aware of for our church families?

    • I have not read the book, but the description in the Amazon listing says, "The Last Orphan is the journey of a precocious five-year old and two strong women, each of whom believes God has chosen her to raise the boy in love and the “correct” faith tradition." I wonder what that means!
