WORKSHOP TOPIC:  “Keys to a Successful Church Library”
Presenter, Iva Sutherland, Honorary Life Member of Pacific Northwest Association of Church Libraries with over 20 years of church library experience.  Handouts, free books, door prizes, and refreshments.

  • I attended the PNACL (Pacific Northwest Association of Church Libraries) in Tacoma last weekend.  This was my first library conference and I can describe it in one word:  WOW!  Wonderful workshops, speakers, and authors.  The chapter that hosted the conference did an outstanding job of planning and executing the entire conference.  Their efforts were most appreciated.  I drove away with lots of great ideas and info floating around in my head.  Now I just need to find some time to sit down and sort it all out and see what can be incorporated into my library ministry and services.  It was really wonderful to meet so many librarians and get a bit acquainted.  Much to my delight I met two ladies from Wenatchee from the Church of the Nazarene.  It was really great visiting with them.  I'm already looking forward to next year!

  • Hope to see you all at the PNACL conference July 13-14.  Let's plan to meet and greet.

  • Do you have a book discussion group? Do you use a social networking site to have online discussions?

  • Hi,

I am Parish Librarian at Christ Lutheran Church in Lakewood WA, a member of PNACL for whom I edit their newsletter.

Hi to Ann, I met you at the Wenatchee workshop.

  • Hi,  I'm new here.  I'm also new to the job of being a church librarian.  Our church is medium size but our congregation is very small.  I'm in the process of setting up our library and finding donations very scarce as far as donated books.  I have a letter to mail out to local libraries and am in need of more ideas on how to generate donations.  Help please.
  • There's a free Spring Library Workshop at Wenatchee Valley Baptist Church, this Saturday, April 2, 9:30am to noon.  It's sponsored by Pacific Northwest Association of Church Libraries.  Guest speaker will talk on how to do book reviews for various publications, handouts, book give-a-ways, refreshments.  Address is 650 Crawford Ave., Wenatchee, WA.  Phone 509/663-4868.  Email: ann@wvbaptist.org

  • Hi Ann,
You have already helped me out. I was having problems cataloging books and you responded to my email. This website for Church Librarians is great !!
The library itself is 70-80 years old and as of right now we have over 15000 books, dvd's, videos, etc. My husband and I came through Washington this summer on our way to visit relatives in Portland, OR. It was my first time in your state and I loved everything about it. We have friends who live in Canada and they went with us so we went a round about way to get to where we wanted to go. Looking forward to hearing back from you too. Take care and we'll talk soon.
  • Hi Janet,
Thank you for joining the Washington Church Libraries Group. I live in Wenatchee, Washington, and am the librarian at the Wenatchee Valley Baptist Church. I look forward to getting to know you better and to learning from each other.
