Hi Everyone!
We had one of our busiest weeks ever on the CLN last week including several new members. And at the same time, we are prayinig for those of you in Florida and the rest of Ian's path last week.
Last week, Susan Mule’ posted a question about the book The Church Librarians Handbook. Turned out she had another book in mind, but my experiences last week led me to the original book for Southern Baptists using the title The Church Librarians Handbook. This title was used for other books as well. I actually spent a few hours at the SBC Archive in downtown Nashville last Tuesday holding this handbook along with original letters from Arthur Flake. I am using that experience to start a discussion here on the Church Librarians Network that takes us back to our roots as we search for today’s reasons for churches having libraries. Click here.
Anyone Observing Church Library Month?
Through a search of the CLN, I found several posts about Church Library Month. I clicked on one posted in 2017 for us to continue the discussion. Feel free to post what you are doing during October by filling in the reply here. If you want to scroll through the results of my CLN search, click here. Not all of these results relate to church library month, but you will find some bulletin boards and ideas.
Have you Seen This? Print vs. eBooks
In case you missed this one last week. We can benefit from their research since that is a concern of ours too. Especially those who have pastors and church leaders who think their people won’t read these days. Take a look at a report that was posted in February 2022. Click here.
