Hi Everyone!

WHAT’S NEW

Thank you, Leslie Kenley, for asking: How does our traditional library need to change to draw today's church goers? I spent the morning responding to this question since my church is the one that calls our library Enrichment Center. And I had the opportunity to serve with the Lifeway Church Library specialists’ team that developed the Disciple Making Center concept when many church libraries were forced to close. Note that we are now in a time when every church is unique. So can we accept the reality that there is no one way to “do” and “be” libraries in churches, parishes, and synagogues? The title is not the issue. Leslie is capturing the issue for all of us to continually assess in our churches, parishes, and synagogues: “What needs to change for us?” Click here.

Building a Desk Book

Thank you, Frau Schneider for pointing out a broken CLN link to the Church Library Ministry Information Service. The reason that the former link no longer works is because this resource is now available free. You are correct that this book does have out-of-date information but a high percentage of the content continues to be useful. Note that the Church Librarians Network started as a solution to print book content quickly going out-of-date and eventually out of print. Our discussions and other aspects of the CLN give us daily opportunities to be on top of what is going on in our libraries. Starting a Library
