I'm afraid my church's young adults (high school age primarily) are slipping through the cracks between the "children's library" and the "adult media center"! Anyone have suggestions for good books/resources for this age group? I'm especially interested in fiction...

Sometimes you can't get the current teens and it takes building that group from elementary school. Summer reading programs are the best for enticing them.
Dandi Daley Mackall has written some excellent youth books for middle school to youth girls. Her 'Winnie' Series and also the Starlight Animal Rescue Series are in constant circulation in our library.
Chuck Black has become very popular with our young men. Also, the "Left Behind Series for Kids" continues to be popular with both groups as does Jerry Jenkins "Red River Series".
We moved the YA books out of the library and into the youth room. We know they are being looked at as we find them all over the room and some go missing for awhile. We had 2 youth on our committee and they would suggest books which was a big help.
One book that was read by both youth & adults is 13 Reasons Why. One author they suggested was Melody Carlson. Also for tweens the Rue books especially the Lily series.
I also wrote to colleges that were associated with the United Methodist and got info on them and also on grants & scholarships available to members.
Dear Jenn,
Thanks for responding to my email. May I get back to you later about names and authors of the books for young people? My mother has dementia. My sister & I take turns staying with her. I will be with her for the next 2 weeks, so I am getting ready to leave the house.
If you would like to check out our website. Go to www.churchatthemall.com/library. I will get back to you later.
Thanks again,
Janet Estridge.
Take your time, Janet! I understand. My gram had Alzheimer's though not dementia. Please take care of her and I will be waiting patiently for your reply upon your return.
My prayers for all of your family.
Jenn
