2013 summer media club

Anyone have ideas how to execute inexpensive summer program decor complimenting VBS theme?  "Colossal Coaster World" has not sparked my imaginzation yet since as don't have access to an easily constructed roler coaster to fit our space.

  • Wanda, did you come up with any ideas to compliment the VBS theme?  I am trying to put together something simple in the next weeks.  No room for a roller coaster, but I will probably ask our VBS director  for some extra Colossal Coaster decorations for our small window display and focus on the phrase "Facing Fear and Trusting God".  I would love to have the participants make the "Fear Face Bookmarks" with paperclips, wiggly eyes, yarn & ribbon when they stop by to register for the reading club.  "Any ideas for simple charting?  I usually just make booklets for them to record their reading efforts.  Already have some prizes purchased last year on clearance.  Would love to hear your ideas!  Thanks.

    • We kinda went off the VBS theme  with "Summer Fun"  We start with K'nex roller coaster, then go to eight Adrenaline Zone recreation sites in the DFW area - a Rangers game, visit the library, Tune Town Concert, Enchanged Butterfly Garden, etc, ending up with a K'NEX ferris wheel.  One of our library team has made wonderful 5 1/4" "people" from Cricut Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge to move from site to site.  We will have an Emporium Cafe at the end serving  hot dogs, cotton candy, We decided to give gift cards as prizes.   We are using re-designed/repurposed  decorations we have gathered from past clubs and VBS rather than purchase more 'stuff'.
