    Hello Church Librarians, we are having our spring 2-day training conference on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6, 2023 - "Transforming Lives Through Church Libraries" ! We will meet at Chester Baptist Church at 4317 School Street, Chester, VA, just south of Richmond. You can also join us via Zoom! Our Conference Leaders are Allison Maynard with Book Systems, Bev League & Carolyn Walker-Church Library Specialists, and our Virginia librarians - Martha Hancock, Jewel Barger, & Lee Smith. The Craft and Baked Goods Auction Fundraiser and a Book Swap - always a hit! Scholarships are available to cover registration fees.     Central Alabama would like to invite you to attend the Central Alabama Library Conference on Saturday March 4th. at Shoal Creek Baptist church in Deatsville, Al. Why not make plans to take a Road Trip to Wetumpka, Al where Ben and Erin filmed Home Town Take over and attend the conference that is about 12 miles away from Wetumpka, The Hampton Inn located in Wetumpka is offering a reduced rate if you are attending this event.

    Hello Librarians,

    We are just a few days away from our Fall Conference this Saturday, October 15. The conference will be at Dover Baptist Association, 11006 Lakeridge Pkwy, Ashland, VA 23005.
    If you have not already registered to either come and join us in-person ($30) or online via Zoom ($10), there is still time to do so. You can either pay for your registration fees via Zelle or PayPal ahead of time or cash or check on Saturday. We will allow walk-ins on Saturday if someone would like to attend. Today, Wednesday, October 12 is the last day to be able to register and guarantee lunch. If you know you are coming and going to pay on Saturday, please let us know so we can include a lunch for you.     We are looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

    Hello, Virginia Librarians! Looking forward to seeing many of you at our One-Day Fall Conference (and Zoom) on Saturday, Oct. 15th! Please go to our website, vacla.org, to download the Registration form. From the top menu, click on Upcoming Events, then click on Fall 2022 Conference. Scroll down to choose the Scholarship Application for first time attendees, the Registration form due by Oct. 1 (or prices increase!), and the Conference Flyer which gives the schedule for the day. We pray that you will be able to join us for fellowship with other librarians, listening to fantastic conferences leaders, and gathering around to share a meal. Blessings on each of you and your ministry in your church.

    Hey, Virginia Librarians! Mark your calendars for our One-Day Fall Conference - Saturday, October 15, 2022! Plan to gather with other church librarians for fellowship and learning. Kathy Fogg Berry, a Richmond resident, who wrote "When Words Fail" and co-authored, "Dementia-Friendly Worship".

    Virginia Church Library Association is having our Spring Conference on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Monument Heights Baptist Church, located at 5716 Monument Ave., Richmond, Virginia! Registration is only $10.00 and due by May 31, 2022! Morlee Maynard and Bev League are our conference leaders. We are thrilled to have them lead their workshops, "Promotion Activities and Programs" and "Church Libraries Making Disciples with their Churches".     Virginia Church Library Association is having another Coffee and Chat in Newport News on Saturday, May 15, 2021! All librarians are invited to this free time of fellowship, asking questions, and discussing library concerns in a round-table format (with social distancing and masks as required by our state). A Share Table will be available for your donated books with copyright 10 years or less, classics, reference materials, etc. Tabernacle Baptist Church and their librarian, Carol Buckles, are hosting this event and would appreciate your RSVP by Friday, May 14.     Our fall conference is this coming weekend Friday, October 11 & Saturday, October 12.  There is still time to register and come join us for a time of learning and fellowship.

    Scholarship & Early Conference Registration Fee deadline is Monday, September 9.

    We are offering scholarships for first-time conference attendees to introduce them to everything VCLA has to offer. This will also help offset some of the conference fees. The deadline to apply is September 9.

    The registration fees will all increase by $20 as of Tuesday, September 10. Make sure to get them in the mail by Monday.

Forum

Let's talk Book Clubs and Reading Groups

On October 21, 2023 while we are together in Richmond, we are going to share our experiences and ideas about book clubs. I thought it would be fun to continue to share our stories beyond the conference. So I am setting up a forum for our conversations going forward about our book clubs and reading groups so that I can put the link in our handout. Can't wait to be with all of you on Zoom. Surely do wish I could be with you in person! Morlee
