  • Enjoying our Spring Conference in Lynchburg. We combined this year with NC!

  • We use it- I'm in Richmond, VA.

  • Hi, I am the church librarian at Mt. Pleasant Baptist in Colonial Heights. I am new to not only this site, but librarianing in general . I saw that there are area mentors, and I would love any help with getting our library ministry organized and MINISTERING (instead of just existing, collecting dust, and marching towards obsoleteness). Colonial Heights is about 15 miles south of Richmond.

  • jhite@libertylive.com  Lynn here we have senior adult men who like to do projects and repairs around the church.  Have you thought about asking one of them if they could build  you one.  Another simple solution would be a piece of plywood add the wheels to the bottom corners and sit a plastic container on it and roll it under the drop slot.  Joan Hite

  • Help!  Does anyone out there have an indoor wooden book return cabinet that they don't want anymore?  I am looking for one for our church, Newington Baptist in Gloucester.  I can't afford a new one...as they are very pricey.

  • Carolyn Oakley - did you get the help you need?  If not, Nancy King could get you connected with your area mentor.  allenandnancy@yahoo.com

  • Melanie, Nancy Boyd (Liberty Baptist Church, Hampton) is the mentor for your neck of the woods; however, right now she is in Florida, should be back in the spring!  Meantime, if you would like to visit my church library (Temple Baptist Church, Newport News), I would be happy to have you stop by.  Our work day is Wednesday afternoons from 1:00 to 6:00.  We use Concourse (Book Systems) for our library inventory.  Let me know if you would like to come over.

  • Carolyn, I see that Jackie Harris has responded to your question - so she will be a terrific help to you!  I just wanted to ask where you are located in Virginia?  The Virginia Baptist Library Association has regional "mentors" who will be happy to visit your church library and help you.
  • Jackie Harris asked about the fall conference of the Virginia Baptist Library Association held at my church, Temple Baptist in Newport News. (We missed you, Jackie!) Our library team was quite pleased with the turnout (a total of 80 folks participated during the 2-day conference). We heard comments about the good food, great instructors, important discussions and topics. Vendors of library supplies and other individuals donated some lovely gifts for door prizes which added to the fun. I hope everyone went home renewed in spirit to do the ministry of church library work.
  • Maxine, What a true blessing you are to my heart! Sitting here in rainy Virginia like a gloomy-gus and your smiling face appears on my computer screen, praising the Lord! With your permission I will print what you've just said and have Jewel Barger (our new president) read it to those in attendance at the conference at Temple. Fred W will not be with us - something about family and Hawaii - can you imagine such a thing?! Always good to hear from you and look forward to seeing you at Ridgecrest.

Let's talk Book Clubs and Reading Groups

On October 21, 2023 while we are together in Richmond, we are going to share our experiences and ideas about book clubs. I thought it would be fun to continue to share our stories beyond the conference. So I am setting up a forum for our conversations going forward about our book clubs and reading groups so that I can put the link in our handout. Can't wait to be with all of you on Zoom. Surely do wish I could be with you in person! Morlee
