    Virginia Church Library Association is having another Coffee and Chat in Newport News on Saturday, May 15, 2021! All librarians are invited to this free time of fellowship, asking questions, and discussing library concerns in a round-table format (with social distancing and masks as required by our state). A Share Table will be available for your donated books with copyright 10 years or less, classics, reference materials, etc. Tabernacle Baptist Church and their librarian, Carol Buckles, are hosting this event and would appreciate your RSVP by Friday, May 14.     Our fall conference is this coming weekend Friday, October 11 & Saturday, October 12.  There is still time to register and come join us for a time of learning and fellowship.

    Scholarship & Early Conference Registration Fee deadline is Monday, September 9.

    We are offering scholarships for first-time conference attendees to introduce them to everything VCLA has to offer. This will also help offset some of the conference fees. The deadline to apply is September 9.

    The registration fees will all increase by $20 as of Tuesday, September 10. Make sure to get them in the mail by Monday.

    Reminder about the Northern VA Coffee & Chat event coming up this Friday, August 23.  Mary Jane Dozier, VCLA NorthStar Regional Advisor, is hosting an event at Parkwood Baptist Church, Fairfax, VA.  The Coffee and Chat will begin at 11 am and run until 1 pm.  See our website www.vacla.org or Facebook events page for more detailed information.   Please make sure to RSVP by Thursday, August 22 to mjdangel@msn.com.

    It's still not to late to come and join us for a weekend of training, fellowship and fun. There are people from 6 different states already attending. We will need to know by Wednesday, May 1 if you are going to attend to guarantee meals.

Let's talk Book Clubs and Reading Groups

On October 21, 2023 while we are together in Richmond, we are going to share our experiences and ideas about book clubs. I thought it would be fun to continue to share our stories beyond the conference. So I am setting up a forum for our conversations going forward about our book clubs and reading groups so that I can put the link in our handout. Can't wait to be with all of you on Zoom. Surely do wish I could be with you in person! Morlee
