The Church Librarians Network is among many social networking options. Others include FaceBook and LinkedIn. Why do you think we need to know about these options for our library ministries as well as our personal use?

I read a great book http://churchoffacebook.com/ that can help individuals and churches decide how best to use social media for themselves personally and publicly. We have this book in our church library. I'm sure there are other resource out there as well. I was such a long hold out but I think it is like everything else; you have to learn how to use it responsibly. I don't think it's going to go away anytime soon. Our church has a facebook page, website & we have a library facebook page, although I don't have tons of time to devote to it. Public libraries are using social media as do businesses. Some of our Pastors write blogs. Consumers want information accessible to them easily and more and more they are accessing this info from their phones wherever they are. I recently attended a library workshop on the QR codes. (the black & white boxes that you'll be seeing everywhere, if you haven't yet...kind of like a bar code scanner) They are in museums, magazines, libraries etc.
I'm way behind in checking some of the comments here on CLN...but looked at this facebook page this morning. You are doing a great job with this. I'll be returning soon to check out some of your links!
