As I'm making purchase selections I thought it would be nice to add classics to our small but growing fiction section. What would be appropriate classics to include in a young adult, grades 9-12, church library? Looking for a top five or top ten to build on through the years. Any suggestions?

  • You might want to add the following two as well:

    1) Robinson Crusoe

    2) Heidi

  • A few that we have and that I have seen as I checked the catalogs of other church libraries are:

    Catherine Marshall

    Christy (DVD series also available)

    Julie

    C. S. Lewis

Chronicles of Narnia (DVD series also available)

    Louisa May Alcott

    Little Women

    Little Men

    Jo's Boys

    Elizabeth George Speare

    Witch of Blackbird Pond

    Sign of the Beaver

    The Bronze Bow

    Wilson Rawls

Where the Red Fern Grows (DVD series also available)

    John Bunyan

    Pilgrim's Progress (J edition available)

    Add some biographies such as

Jim Elliott:  Shadow of the Almighty

Corrie Ten Boom:  The Hiding Place

I'm sure there must be many more.  I look forward to seeing what others suggest!
