Janet, go to the "Help" menu on the main menu bar in Concourse and you will find several documents which have excellent instructions for using the software. The "User Guide" (on page 23) has a very detailed section on setting up worker records, and explains what each permission means.
Book Systems recommends that each worker, including the administrator, have a login and password and that each person sign in and log out when using Concourse. Use the default login and password only when setting up the system.
The "User Guide" expresses it this way:
All library workers who use the Concourse system must be assigned their own login name
and password. The logins allow you to grant or restrict privileges and to audit or track various
worker activities, such as cataloging and circulating.
Try these help files and if you still have problems, post again. But I think you will be pleased with what you find!
