I have a patron who has a lost book which she has paid for, but in spite of rebuilding indexes, and all of that- it is still there. How do I remove an item from a patron's record?

I would think that the normal check in procedure would do the job, but it may depend on what software you are using. I think Concourse requires an item to be checked in before it can be deleted.
It cannot be checked In per se because it is lost. That's the problem.

Concourse lets you change any item marked lost to found. Can your software do this? I understand that Concourse does not consider this falsehood as a sin, so proceed with a clear heart.
Actually, I hadn't thought about just checking it in manually because that would take it off. Then I will mark it lost, and that will take care of it. It should not be on her record after that. It's a duh moment for me (image of someone smacking their foreheard). I can then delete the record after that or go over it which is not what Sandra recommends, but is what Concourse recommends.
