QR Codes

Do you use QR Codes in the library? Or in promotional materials?

We have a QR Code sign beside the entrance to the Enrichment Center (library) both inside and outside. The sign is also next to our self-checkout box. The Code is a link to our online catalog. I've been surprised by how many people use it.

How do you use QR Codes? Does someone on your church staff prepare QR codes for you or do you do it yourself like I do? If so, what do you use to do that? I did learn the hard way that there are free apps but at the end of a certain number of days it automatically charges your credit card. And my lesson learned recently was the reality that many of these apps are located in other time zones.

A surprising result has been the ability to offer our church leaders another service--creating QR Codes for others.

What are your experiences and advice for the rest of us in regard to QR codes?

  • All of our library's materials are circulated through Libib which creates a QR code for each item and each patron.

For other things that need a QR code created, I take care of that through a variety of free resources that don't require a credit card be kept on file.
