Purchasing Items for a Library

Renea Skaggs asks the following:

What company do you purchase most of your books from - one that has the best prices?  When purchasing books for a church library, do you pay taxes on your purchases?

    • LOVE Abebooks and thriftbooks!

  • We use Christian Book Distributors whenever we can.  I put books in my cart and keep them there until they offer a free shipping code, and then I order. I have checked pricing in various places and found them to be $2-6 cheaper than most other places unless there is a special running, i.e., a preorder sale, closeout sale, etc.  Amazon is used in a pinch, but they run higher most of the time. Every once in a while, they will beat out CBD but rarely.  We use Thriftbooks.com to finish out or replace older books, and they have been not only reasonable but an extremely good company with which to work.  I also follow various authors on FB, and when they are running 30-40% off on preorders, I take advantage of that and work then with whomever they are promoting through.
