Parenting Resource Center

As we continue with revitalizing our very full library and working to put books in the hands of our church members, we have plans to create a new satellite location in the building where our parents of growing families congregate for Bible study. It will include books about mom life, dad life, growing strong families, discipling our children, etc.

Does anyone already have this in existence? What advice might you share?

What books would you highly recommend? Any recently published ones that would appeal to this group?

  • We have a large number of books for parents in one section. We use the call number 649 for all pareting related items. Our Children's Minister and I are planning to carve out some time to weed out these books that are not being used to make room for recently released books.

  • We have a small resource center that does include several books on parenting. Currently, we have

What Do I Say When? by Andrew Walker and Christian Walker (highly recommend)

    Parenting by Paul David Tripp

Write It on Their Hearts by Chris Swain

Mama Bear Aologetics by Hillary Morgan Ferrer

Risen Motherhood by Emily Jensen & Laura Wifler

The Power of a Praying Mom by Stormie Omartian

Before You Leave by Todd Von Helms

Other titles I have considered but have not yet purchased include

Raising Emotionally Strong Boys by David Thomas

Raising Worry-Free Girls by Sissy Goff

Teatime Discipleship for Mothers and Daughters by Sally Clarkson

    The Ology by Marty Machowski

Family Driven Faith by Voddie Baucham

Christ-Centered Family by The Daily Grace Co.

    MIssional Motherhood by Gloria Furman

I would also highly recommend Triggers: Exchanging Parents' Angry Reactions for Gentle Biblical Responses by Amber Lia and Wendy Speake, which looks at internal and external factors that may trigger us as parent to anger and how to respond biblically.

    Hope this helps!

    • Thanks so much! Great suggestions!
