  • We have meetings with our library staff once each quarter.  We never have a lack of discussion topics.  We plan reading programs, open houses; discuss ways to get more people interested in the library.  We work hard at keeping our library looking inviting - new - exciting so there's always something to discuss concerning 'weeding'; painting and wall décor; building up 'weaker' sections such as DVD's and books on CD.  We find staff meetings to be very helpful.

  • Thanks to all for the wonderful suggestions. I love the one to meet for potluck. You know how we Baptists like our food!

    Janet.

  • We meet at least quarterly to schedule workdays, plan promotions, prepare for special events, evaluate completed promotions and events (what went right? what didn't work? should we ever do this again?), and to conduct mini-trainings.

Mini-trainings may be as simple as a new shortcut someone discovered on Concourse, a new process or change to a process, or a recap of a recent training a team member attended elsewhere.

At least twice a year we have a potluck at a team member's house.

    • Nice Ideas!

  • I have 5 volunteers. I wonder sometimes about meetings, but so far have not had any.  I

  • I'm also interested in further response. At this point it's only my daughter (13 years of age) & I who are the librarians at our church. There is someone else who may join us. I've been thinking about meetings since the one person expressed some interest.

Here are my plans - if we were to have more workers:

                                                           Monthly Library  Meetings

    1.  Devotional & Prayer

    2.  Brief Review [of a portion of our church's library Purpose and/or Policy]

    3.  Focus (Themes & Needs) & Concerns

    4.  Project  [Work together on projects such as Labeling / Cleaning / Previewing items . . .]

I would hope to keep each numbered section to no more than it's designated length.

I wish I could give this from a "been there & done that" perspective. Maybe this might help anyway?

  • I'm a library of one for right now. But i am interested in hearing the response. I am preparing for church growth.
