  • I have visited churches with this arrangement and to the letter every one of them ended up with the bookstore getting more and more room and the library being pushed into a smaller area and less emphasis given it. I know that in some churches a bookstore is helpful, but when you are in an area where these kind of stores are readily available I see no need for them. The church library can sell books for Bible studies and workshops and still remain the church library. With the economy as it is now, the emphasis needs to be on the library. People need to use extra money to give to the church and use the great materials in the church library for their resources. Of course when you just have to have a personal copy the library could even provide a service of getting a copy for a person. We need to be good stewards. Don't replace church libraries with bookstores, our libraries are free - bookstores are not.
