Today, we had our very first preschool storytime in the Enrichment Center! Click here to read our Forest Hills Baptist Church Enrichment Center Journal where I shared today's great experiences!
Many of you have been doing storytimes for years. Would you share your experiences with us? What works? What doesn't work?
THANKS!

There are several websites like Storytime with Kate and some of the larger cities public libraries that have posted ideas some of them have games, songs, and crafts along with book suggestions.. I found an old copy of The Storytime Sourcebook by Carolyn Cullum and it has been very useful I have written books we have next to the ones she suggests along with craft changes I make. Aways make a sample even if you plan to do the project with the kids and keep your sample that way for calender events that come around every year you don't have to make it again. Glue Dots! They are very handy and easy for toddlers to handle. Sometimes just have to use white glue for easy clean-up put little bit of glue in bottle caps and have them spread the glue with a Q-tip it can all be tossed. If you do a song or rhyming fingerplay print out the words that way the adults can help If they want to take them home fine if not save them for next year.
Keep stories short. Help get the wiggles out by doing song or activity before story Don't be afraid to try something thay might be little messy just make sure have paper towels and wet wipes handy Encourge them to check out books If I do elephants as many as possible of our books that have elephants are on display all around the area Use props
Think this year I think Groundhog Day was one that got the most feed back. We read the poem I Have a Little Shadow then a book about groundhogs everyone got a small flashlight to look at shadows with and we had assorted small items that they could shine the light on and trace the shadowon paper. The adults told me that the kids looked for shadows all week .
