We just received a 7 disc set of THE WORD OF PROMISE New Testament Audio Bible. Each disc is in a matching, individual package. How would we catalog--treat it as one collection, one number, but add the disc # to each, or treat it as 7 individual discs.? Thank you for your help.

    • Martha: Yes, we did separate the kit, giving each album its own bar code number.

    • nevermind.

  • Glad you asked the question.  I've had the same problem.

  • To add to the classification number that Charles gave you, use BCD (or whatever you use to designate the format for audio books) as first line:

    BCD

    225.52

    Bib

    NJKV

    V. #

Check your Church Library Ministry Information Service  Classification & Cataloging chapter for more information on this.  Look at pages 56-57 -- (in the issue that I have.)

Having them packaged individually is great!  We have something similar, but all in one zippered case!  Haven't determined a solution yet!

    • Sandra: Thanks, so much. We will include your info when printing the labels, as well as your hint about referring to the Service Classification & Cataloging info. Just wondering if the Concourse program will allow us to print 5 lines. I've never tried to. Would we have to reset the program? (can you tell I'm not too experienced?)Again, thanks for your help.

      • If your labels are large enough, you can print the labels.  Try printing on plain paper and hold your labels up behind the print to see if it fits on the label.

Almyra, can you and your friend come to the Mississippi conference at FBC in Louisville this year?  Check the events schedule in the right-hand column and make your plans! Looking forward to seeing you!

        • Sandra: We did catalog our set, giving each a separate bar code. We were able to print the extra lines on the spine labels by adjusting our standard setting. Thanks so much! Almyra

          • Great! Glad it worked for you!  Sue Berthelot had mentioned the LA Library conference when we were at Ridgecrest, and was looking forward to it.  I hope you have a good group.  And I do hope you can come to Louisville if at all possible.  We will celebrate the 100th birthday of one of Mississippi's long-time librarians, Juanita Hight,  in her church.  Sue Bethelot, Eva Nell Hunter, Steve Gately and Mary Broussard will also be leading conference sessions there.

        • Thanks so much, Sandra. Will give it a try and let you know how we make out. Would love to make the conference. We always enjoy them and learn so much. Hope to make it, though it is a little far for us to drive. We are having a church wide conference this week-end at First Baptist Church here in B. R., covering all areas of the church, including the library. There will be 4 break out sessions for just the library, lead by Sue Berthelot. We are definitely hoping to make it. Again, thanks for your help. This site is so worthwhile.
