  • I use a Sony Reader that I've had for a number of years.  The only problem I'm finding with it is that I can't read it in the sunlight. The advantage that it and many of the others have over the Kindle is that you can download items from the public library.  Free.  In the meantime I can use Kindle for computer if I really want an item I can't get otherwise.

  • My first reader was a Sony reader. Love its lightness, but it is older and the contrast seems to have dropped off (or maybe it's my eyes.)

I really prefer the iPad. So much flexiblity on font type, font size, contrast and light level.  And I've had occassion to use nearly every setting. But the thing is really heavy...and pricey. But, like any tablet, it is much more than a Reader.

Any tablet that is Android-based or is iAnything will handle Kindle, Nook, Sony, and Overdrive apps.  But color tablets are heavier and use battery power by the hour instead of by the week like non-color readers.

  • personally i am saving up for a tablet computer because it can do so much more.  i think the one i am looking at uses the Kindle software, but i won't know until i get it and try it out.  i am excited about trying out my first ebook.

  • Miss Eva Nell,

Any problems with proprietary books that you can not read?  Please let me know
