Churchwide Reports

Do you have the opportunity to give reports to the church family in some way about the status of the library? Business Meetings? Staff Meetings? Did you have that opportunity in the past?  If you do, share with us how you do such. Note that this question is an administration question not a promotion report.

  • Our church has a quarterly business meeting.  I attach my newsletter to it.  In my Newsletter I put in the circulation we have had in the past 3 months and  also the circulation that took place one year ago in those 3 months.  I also add any new library users we have had and things that went on in those 3 months.  Always good to add things that are coming up in the next 3 months.

  • Last night our church had our quarterly family gathering. During our pastor's segment of the program, the minister of children and I got to recognize the children who completed the summer reading challenge. Our pastor gave the Enrichment Center a glowing introduction. When we finished our segment, our pastor said "Do you all know that the EC team always has books related to the sermons in the main display window? And did you know that when I mention a book in a sermon, Morlee will have that book in the display immediately after the service." Got another huge applause for his generous words of affirmation of the team and me. I'm still walking on clouds!

  • Our church library appears weekly in the church's eblast, which replaced a monthly newsletter. It tells of books to be discussed in our monthly book group, new books, and our monthly reading challenge. We also have a report that is included in the Annual Report, giving some highlights of the library year.

  • Ever since I became librarian in 1993 I have put a library article in the monthly newsletter, give report at weekly staff meetings and give a monthly library circulation report and book review to the Auxiliary. I also prepare a monthly list of new books available. I am a paid church staff member.

  • When I was librarian for our church, I was given space in our monthly news letter to report things; usually, new books with a short annotation.
