" Make new friends, but keep the old, One is silver and the other gold"--a song we used to sing in Girl Scouts. I find myself caught in this juxtaposition--wanting to keep the best of our established library, but looking for new ways to move forward in making our library an important and well-used resource for our church members.
In view of this, our library team will soon be reviewing our library mission statement--determining if we need to revise any part of it or affirming that it continues to be a good guideline as we serve in God's library. I am finding that a strong mission statement clarifies our goal and sets a standard for all future decisions.
Please share your church library's mission statement and add any thoughts that explain how your library serves your church. I truly appreciate that on this website we can share our best ideas and learn from each other. Thanks!
