I recently moved to Plainfield, Illinois. I was wondering if there was a library near me that could use a cataloger and help with other library projects? I have several years of experience in public, church and school libraries.

  • Plainfield is in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago ...To further clarify, I have experience with Concourse, Atrium and Follett’s Destiny. I have a working knowledge of MARC and RDA. The church we attend does not have a library but I would love to help another church. My church background includes GARB, Southern Baptist, and Presbyterian (PCA) ... Churches that are evangelical with reformed theology. I’m willing to drive 30-45 min. Would love to meet some local library people and expand my circle of friends.

    • As usual my replies are just about useless. I'll try again.

You mentioned Southern Baptists. They frequently have local (city, county, state) groups called associations (larger areas called Conventions). I'd try Googling baptist associations Plainfield IL . Contacting an association might give you leads to a church needing library help.

      • No uselessness. Just crossed wires. I was adding info to my original post and missed your advice to search the members list. Any idea how to search it by just state?   Did see the group listing for the ECLA so have contacted them. As a former member not sure why I didn’t think of them before...

  • You can click on Members and then Advanced.  This will allow filtering for location (city or state).

    • Yes, ideally.
