  • I find Library of Congress website and World Library Catalog valuable resources for me. I search for the title of the book or author on these sites and use their information to complete my Marc cataloging.
World Catalog has also been a resource for me to help genealogy researcher as well as other researchers, to find books they need. World Cat gives the name of libraries within 500 mile radius that holds the book we are needing. Sometimes the library is a university library within a short drive. Other times the book is further away and we can request an inter- library loan.

  • Great question!

One chapter in Church Library Ministry Information Service has what you are looking for starting on page 51. Title of chapter is Classification and Cataloging for Church Libraries. This book is free by clicking here:

    It is a pdf download.

A book I use all the time: A Classification System for Church Libraries. It is worth every penny of $8.99. It is a digital download that has a great search feature.
