One of our topics during last Saturday's (October 19, 2024)  Middle Tennessee Church Library Ministry Network gathering was sharing titles on hospice and end of life needs. Have you discovered books to have for families dealing with hospice care? Please share titles and authors. We had a very short list.

  •   I'm sorry, I have not read any of these, but these books are from a Christion point of view for end of life care. I sincerely hope these would be helpful.

Here’s a short list of books on end-of-life Christian care, hospice, and grief:

    1. "Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End" by Atul Gawande
This book explores the challenges of aging and dying, emphasizing the importance of quality of life in end-of-life care.

    2. "Final Gifts: Understanding the Special Awareness, Needs, and Communications of the Dying" by Maggie Callanan and Patricia Kelley
A compassionate guide that offers insights into the dying process and how to communicate with those nearing the end of life.

    3. "Grieving: Your Path Back to Peace" by Lynda Cheldelin Fell
This book offers a Christian perspective on navigating grief, providing comfort and guidance for those in mourning.

    4. "The Art of Dying Well: A Practical Guide to a Good End of Life" by Katy Butler
A thoughtful guide that provides practical advice for making the most of the time remaining in life, with a focus on dignity and purpose.

    5. "A Grace Disguised: How the Soul Grows Through Loss" by Jerry Sittser
A poignant reflection on loss and the transformative power of grief from a Christian perspective.

  • Between life and death : a gospel-centered guide to end-of-life medical care by Kathryn Butler.

Also, a fiction title: The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip by Sara Brunsvold about a woman who still wants God to use her despite the fact she is entering hospice care.
