  • We have set up a "book sale" in our library every fall using the books we collected as duplicates, have weeded from the library or donations from others. Donations at this one time event usually gives us $200 which helps with expenses at the end of the year. We have the books for sale during one week and people can put their donations in a container. Has been a successful fund raiser.
  • We've found the easiest method to raise funds for the church library is to have a book sale cart. That's not exactly a bookfair, but an ongoing sale is simple and effective. We load books and CDs we no longer need or that are duplicates onto a TV cart and place it in the church's Welcome Center where people congregate before and after services. The cart has a sign announcing "Book Sale" and stating that funds go to support the church library. There is also a sign listing the suggested donations ($1 for softcover, $2 for hardcover, $1 for CDs) and a can with a slit in its lid to place the money in. I believe by law we have to state the items are offered for a donation only. In 2009 we raised about $75 a month with this continuous fundraiser. We wished we had more room to put books out, but the cart works well because all we need to do to set it up is roll it out each Sunday.
    • That's a great idea, Bob.
