What is the best way to catalog biographies of biblical characters? We have some Old Testament characters in 221 and New Testament ones in 225. Some have the first three letters of the author's last name after the Dewey number; some have the name of the character (e.g., 225.92 Paul). I'd really like to make it easy for patrons to find these materials. Are there more specific, extended numbers for Paul, Peter, Moses, David, etc., so that all books about a particular person are located together?
Thanks so much.

I do things a little differently. I've been putting them under "B" for biographies because that seems to be the easiest way for my patrons to find them.
Thanks, Susan.
I have the non-biblical biographies under "Biog". Separating Old and New Testament can be confusing for patrons who love biographies. I may just call it a educational moment.
Thanks so much!

For Old Testament figures, the number is tied to the book(s) of the Old Testament where they are found. The number for Moses is 222.1092 since he is throughout much of the Pentateuch, while Abraham is 222.11092 because his history is found primarily in Genesis. David and Samuel are 222.4092. You will still need to use a double cutter, though, since the biographies of more than one biblical figure will often fall under the same number.
Hope this helps a little!
