  • It's not too late to join our friends in Tennessee next weekend for their church library training.

    Tennessee Church Library Training
    "Books: Inspiring Ideas"

Attached is information about the upcoming conference they are offering next weekend. All of the information, conference schedule, classes, class descriptions, and registration can all be found at this link https://churchlibrarians.ning.com/.../tennessee-church...

It has been some time since we have had library training in Tennessee. It is long "overdue.” We are planning a training day for you on September 13, 2025. “Check it out.” We pray you aren’t already “booked” for that weekend.”

Are you “due” for a boost and some encouragement? Are you ready to start a “new chapter” in your library? “Reserve” your spot. We are “bound” to have a great time since we are planning some classes that will tickle your “spine.” You will learn not only foundational skills but how to streamline your work to meet current challenges and deal with future trends.

Robert J. Morgan, pastor, speaker, and author of over 35 books, will be joining us. Also hear from Carol Ghattas, former missionary and librarian, and author of both nonfiction and fiction. Jana Magruder, LifeWay specialist and author, will be sharing ideas from her book Flip the Script, with ideas on how we can help disciple the next generation. There will be several choices from which to choose. It will be an exciting day.

Please don’t come by yourself, bring someone else along with you. Your library team will enjoy being together. Recruit someone new for your library or just invite a friend.

Thank you for helping us get the word out. Share with other librarians and friends. Everyone is welcome!

All of the information, conference schedule, classes, and class descriptions, etc. can all be found under the "events" tab.

If you are coming from a distance, consider coming early to explore Nashville. What about a tour of the Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives, the Tennessee State Library and Archives, or the Nashville Public Library? The Ryman Auditorium, The Country Music Hall of Fame and The Grand Ole Opry are also fun.
  • "Check Out" the details about a Library Training Event in the Nashville area on September 13, 2025. Details on the Events Tab.
  • I wanted to remind you about our Coffee & Chat this coming Saturday, July 26, at 10 a.m. Susan Swisher, Susan Gaskins, and the church library staff of North Run Baptist are hosting us for this event. Remember, we are doing this one a little differently. We will have the roundtable discussion followed by lunch, bring your own, for a time of fellowship around the tables. Drinks and dessert will be provided. We hope you and your library staff will be able to join us. More information can be found on both our website vacla.org and Facebook page under the events tab. Please RSVP to vachurchlibrary@gmail.com by Friday, July 25, so we know how to plan.

If you have any questions, visit our website vacla.org, visit our Facebook & Instagram pages, or contact me either at this email or at (804) 306.3862. See you Saturday!

Let's talk Book Clubs and Reading Groups

On October 21, 2023 while we are together in Richmond, we are going to share our experiences and ideas about book clubs. I thought it would be fun to continue to share our stories beyond the conference. So I am setting up a forum for our conversations going forward about our book clubs and reading groups so that I can put the link in our handout. Can't wait to be with all of you on Zoom. Surely do wish I could be with you in person! Morlee
