So excited you are back in Texas. Good to have you back in this state. When will your book actually get out? Would love to have you come when we have our next conferences and have you at a book signing as well as teaching. We will get back to you when we have something planned. Maybe your son can come again also. Delighted to meet him. Take care and keep in touch. Rita
Hello, Rita! I am back in TX. I am available! I will be teaching at RC again--Be sure and send one or two of your staff! I am 94 now! Can you believe it? I am looking forward to seeing all my old friends again. If you want me to do a workshop, or tell stories for a special occasion, let me know! The Book is almost finished! Luv. Mackie
I notice that you said it begins at 10:30. I hope to get there by ten but my son is one of those people who always say "it only takes thus and so to get there and then we get held up by traffic. I always say, "We should start early enough that we allow for all such delays." But he is a procrastinator and I have to depend on him to drive these days because I can drive perfectly well, but I don't know my way around down here and he does. I will do m best to get there by ten, but I may be a few minutes after that. I am letting him think it starts at ten because that is when I understood it was beginning, and told him that, so I am not going to change it, so that way,by his thinking I need to get there by ten, he may get me there in time! I like to be early, but when you are 92 and have to depend on someone else to drive, it is most irritating. I try to keep my cool, but this is one thing that drives me up a wall. love, mackie
PS: I'm excited too! Been telling everyone on e mail and there are some who have expressed a desire to come!!!!Can you believe it! There are two teen aged acquaintances and they live in that vicinity. If they show up, please let them come in and sit down with the children and just listen--One is a great, great niece, and the other is the nephew of a dear library friend. When I told her she said, "Oh, I must tell-------" I said, "Oh, does he live in Euless?" She said, "He lives near enough to come!" Now, I have not met him, but I email him frequently. I think he is a Sr. but he might have graduated now. Then I have a niece in Jacksonsville, FL who is driving over to bring her daughter to seminary and she said, "Oh, I might be coming at that very date. I am not sure, but if I do, I would love to hear you!" I said, "If you do, just tell them who you are and you will be welcome." She belongs to the church where Bro. Brunson went to be pastor from First Dallas! Luv. mbl
Listen, kiddo, I am bringing my autoharp and my storytelling apron full of all sorts of pockets and each pocket stuffed with great surprises! Now, as to the stories, I will tell, as you know I have a repertoire! I have not decided yet, but there are several that will fill the bill, and I am going over them in my mind. Is your catalog on line? I would love to see your collection and see if there is anything that I would like to bring into the conversation. Answer me right back as soon as you read this and tell me the website and how to access the catalog and how the children's books are shown in it--are they prefaced by a C? Luv. Mackie
fantastic! Wow! 70 ! The Lord is good! I will be back early in July and I am already thinking about what I will do! I am thinking that I will go back to my own childhood and tell about how I loved books and then I will tell some of my favorite stories out of the books, both folk tales and character tales, and I might telll myvery favorite Bible story, but you see, I do all of this mixed in with conversation and songs that I use as I play my autoharp and they love it! And I love it, so this will be great fun. A storyteller is the ideal way to close out your reading program! I used to go to the public school librarian's who closed theirs by having me, and I have great memories of their responses to the way I tell stories and show that they are out of books! mbl
RITA! Eureka! I discovered how to make it an OK picture. All you have to do is click on the photo and up it comes just the way it is supposed to look! Please use the clicked on photo! Thanks and sorry for the confusion! luv. Mackie
I hope this works for you, otherwise, send me your email address and I'll sent it that way and it will be a better picture of my face, I believe This was taken when I was the storyteller for the Golden Delicious Apple festival in myown home town! I was the parade marshall etc.
OK! I finally found this place again! I am looking forward to this great day and don't worry about a thing, for I will plan a program and we'll have a great time. I just finished VBS telling Bible stories to 4 age groups one day and 4 age groups the second day! I had a marvelous time and the teachers were all flabbergasted! Well, now, the pastor's wife who is the director of the whole SS wants me to do a workshop for storytelling for her faculty when I come back during the winter months! I will tell you all about it when I see you. it's fantastic how the Lord just enters right in and takes over for me! I'm pressing on the upward way, new heights I'm gaining every day, still praying as I onward bound, Lord plant my feet on higher ground! love, Mackie
I agree, Rita. The Twelfth Imam is a great read. It was one of those books I couldn't put down until I read it all -- the suspense kept me on the edge of my chair from beginning to end. I highly recommend it.
Hi, Rita! Mackie here. Sorry we did not get the storytelling session worked out. But if winter comes, can spring be far behind? No! so, let me know about Feb. for I'll be in town then. While I am at my daughter's January, I plan to get my monologue perfected and my teaching plan down pat and then when I come home in Feb. my mind will be relatively free and we can plan something. The grand opening will be past, but storytelling is always a joy. luv. mackie
Yes, I am available on a Saturday. I will bring my storytelling apron, with all its little pockets and little things we talk about, and I will bring my autoharp to sing along with! Shall I plan a program for a mixed age group or will this be limited to a certain group? I do need to know this in planning. I will love doing this for you! You can call me at 972-226-4781 or you can email all the details. I can plan around a theme, if you wish. mbl
This is July 30--I just today found your question regarding storytelling, date June, 2010. I suppose it is too late now to talk about coming for you this summer, for this is Aug. and schools will soon be starting, however, I would be delighted to come and do storytelling. Let me know when and what kind of stories are you interested in my doing and for what age group? I am able to do for all, but I need to plan for the exact program. luv. mackie
