Extending church library beyond church membership

Our church has over 300 pre-schoolers and Mother's Day Out children enrolled in its weekly programs. A great percentage are non church members. Our Media Center schedules these classes twice weekly for story time. At the New Parents meeting each fall the teachers inform these parents of our reading program and the parents are invited to visit our library and meet us and see our facility. They are amazed to find such an outstanding, convenient media center for their use. We provide applications at that time for them to become users of our library. This has been a wonderful outreach to our community for many years. Parents and children enjoy their visits and many friends have been made through this endeavor. Many of these families are our most loyal members. This has been a great outreach for our church.

Almyra, congratulations on such a great outreach.  We, too, have children from Mother's Day Out program to come to the library for story time.  It is a great outreach.  We are also open to the general public which includes homeschoolers.
