Hi Folks

In a past note I talked about setting up and maintaining a church blog using Google's Blogger. My reasoninf for that was WordPress and I just couldn't get it together. Blogger seemed to be easier for me. Recently on the Blog I have discovered how to put a slideshow on it.  I am so excited about it. One thing it does is it runs continually independent from the rest of the blog activity. It has been a great tool to let folks know of church events and books that I have placed in our church libraries. It is, at the moment shown on the upper right hand side of the blog and is a constant reminder of whatever I put on there.  I will probably separate events from the library information at some point, but for now it works well the way it is. At our church I have a couple of digital frames in a display case. One frame is for historical pictures that I have put together and the other is basically the same slideshow on the blog. Your welcome to check out our blog at www.spfbc.blogspot.com. Let me know what you think. A library blog is a great way to promote your church as well as your library. Many times the only cost is your time and creative talent.

I use Google Chrome and I went on the site to check it out and it was all in the margins. I have someone else doing the bulletin while I am traveling so I will look into it when I get back.

I don't know how to fix the problem since it seems to be alright on the blogger editor.

I would love to blog! I like yours but I had the same problems as Buford and I'm using Google Chrome. A lot of the writing goes off the page. This may not be what you are asking for but Bulletin is misspelled. I will look some more and sign up for new posts if I can.

Note that the fbrlibrary WordPress blog is fluid, in that it flows to fit the display size. Helpful for people with small screens.

For an example of a church library blog using Wordpress, go to First Baptist Church, Raytown Missouri's site:

We do not use a slideshow, but keep the content fresh using the "Library Blog" tab.

I took a quick look at the blog but I had a problem. I'm using Firefox viewer and the blog displayed oversize so it required a lot of horizontal scrolling to view. I tried with Chrome viewer which displayed more but still required scrolling.

I didn't find the slide show in the upper right hand corner but at the bottom. I'll try to get back for another look when I have more time. I think a blog is a great idea. Keep up your good work.
