Something to think about

I am thinking that with all the service men returning from Irac there will probably be some of your congregations who will be  among them.  It is worth taking time to go internet and get all the information that you can gather about their efforts, from start to finish.  It would be good to print it out and give copies to all your staff to read.  This would not mean that you had to talk about that, but just knowing all about where he or she served and to be informed about our efforts there…

Christmas Greetings to Everyone

As a storyteller, I have many precious memories of visits to libraries for story time.  Many were public and private school libraries, but there were the public libraries in Virginia who invited me for workshops and for summer series on a certain theme.  Of course, Christmas was a favorite time for stories, and I have a quiver full of them.  I love to bring poetry to every program, for children as well as adults for everyone loves poetry.  There is no doubt in my mind that the greatest story…

An idea about acquiring a needed book that is out of print

I have found several really fine books by bidding on ebay and for an example, I wanted an old, 1920s edition of Children's Lit that my sister used in college. I had my copy rebound and gave it to her daughter for Christmas and I wanted to replace it in my own collection. I found the identical copy in perfect condition and it only cost me 5.00. I have since found others in the children's lit. field that are not available now, and I just now had the winning bid for a copy of Reader's Digest… Continue

Hi there! Somehow I didn't catch on that we can "befriend" each other. I'm sorry to say, but I'm somewhat inconsistent on being here and checking my e-mail. I'll try to do better.  So please just know that my slow response has more to do with me and not you.

I hope your trip goes well.

Greetings, Maxine.  I am with FBC Madison library, doing mostly computer input.  Refresh my memory on where you are and how your library is doing.

Maxine, I cannot believe I haven't checked this page since August.  Derbyshire and Grove Ave. are really close to where I live and to Third Presby. Church, where I am the Children's Librarian.  My dear former neighbor, Maxine Hager, is a long-time member of Derbyshire.  You may know her.

I am so excited.  You come when you like.  We will be here taking care of last minute details and will get you set up.  Getting to Euless on a week day morning can be time consuming, so I pray the best for you as you make your trek.

Love you,

Maxine, go on First Baptist Church Euless.  When you get on that home page, click on resources then library.  Yes, we are on line.  We have invited any and all to the story time, but only those who participated to the pizza party.  We are all wanting a large crowd, but of course that is the end of summer and a lot of families are already telling us that is their last vacation time before school.  I was hoping they would have waited until Wednesday to go, but I know you go when you can.  Anyway, your friends are welcomed warmly.  Can't wait to see you and most especially LISTEN to you.  It has been a long time since I heard your stories.

Maxine, Maxine, Maxine!  We are so excited for you to be with us for our end of summer reading pizza party.  We begin at 10:30 as we discussed earlier and I have invited all who want to attend to come and be a part of this event.  However, we are only including the children who participated in the pizza party part.  So, we are ready for a fun time with Maxine and her great stories.      Rita
