Caldecott winner - Heads up on content

If you have a school library or a kids' section in your church library, please do not assume that this year's winning Caldecott book is appropriate for your collection. Although it has won various awards, the content has language and content issues that make it unsuitable for church-related children's collections. The title of the Caldecott winning book is "This One Summer"  by Jillian Tamaki.

No party but our work day is a lot of fun!

We have grown in our library ministry from 8 women to 12 this year! We now have 4 teams of two library assistants each to run our library on Sunday mornings, (one team for each week of the month) plus a team of 2 for the 5th Sunday every third month. That leaves me (librarian) free to sub if needed, and we have a new gal who is inputing books in our automation system during the week. One of my "5th Sunday team" gals is now also doing my late book reminder calls or emails. Many hands, light…

Do you know someone in the southern California area who attends a Christian church that would be interested in joining a church library consortium for eBook borrowing? The church does not need to have an active library to start, just a church webpage. We need about 20 churches in the greater Los Angeles/Orange County/Riverside County/San Bernardino county areas…

ebooks and libraries - a thoughtful blog article to read & consider

This is a rather long blog about public libraries and ebooks, but well-worth reading. If you have a Kindle, Nook, etc. or if you are considering adding ebooks to your church library at some point for your patrons, Meredith has done some very insightful thinking…

HI! Where is your meeting?  I am secretary of the local chapter of the National Church Library Assoc. They are facing severe financial set backs and may have to disolve.  We meet the first Friday of October & May. If I can come to your event I can report back to my group in case we need to find another assoc. to join.

We have chosen RCL Software's Media Library Manager for affordability.  It is being implemented at our campus that had no catologing done yet.  Soon I'll start it at our main campus, where I'll keep the old system going while entering everything into the new system.
