We have a Book of Reports from the Southern Baptist Convention.  I can't find anything to tell me what subject headings to use.  Can someone help me?

Thank you, Ann. I did find that.  Now what about subject card for the file?  Would that be SOUTHERN BAPTIST CONVENTION?

Mary, I decided to go straight to the horse's mouth, The Library of Congress.  I sent an email to them and they referred me to World Cat which gave the subject heading of Southern Baptist Convention.  Also, Classify by OCLC gave that same subject heading and 286.132 for the DD number.  It looks like the 286.06 in "A Classification System for Church Libraries" is not the proper classification.  Wow, this has been really interesting and informative.

I went back to the "classification system" and read the notes at the beginning of 286.  It does say there that the # for SBC is 286.132.  I don't know how I missed that.  I don't really understand why it is classed there because 286.1 is Regular or Calvinist Baptists.  I really think the better class is 286.06 for "Proceedings and reports such as convention  annuals." I guess it doesn't matter too much which one is used since they are so close and we are a small library.

Thanks for your help!
