Carol Roeder replied to the discussion 'How often do you weed your library?'
"Like everyone else, we weed on a regular basis, especially when things get too crowded.  we are in the process of weeding more diligently as we will be moving to a new library next year.  Also, people love to give us their discarded…"

Rita Kirkland replied to the discussion 'How often do you weed your library?'
"We weed once a year, but we also weed as we check books in and shelve them.  One should never place a book on the shelf  if it is in bad shape, out of date, or out of touch.  This way weeding would not take you a very long time…"

Lynda Harrington replied to the discussion 'How often do you weed your library?'
"Our weeding generally happens when the shelves start to get crowded. I have to be in the mood for it because it is very difficult for me to dispose of "my children". However, when I start to discard, I have no problem making decsions about…"

Darlene Earnhardt replied to the discussion 'How often do you weed your library?'
"We try to weed once a year usually starting the first of the year until we are satisfied that we have our library stocked with fresh looking books again. Usually every year there will be some, maybe many books that have suffered some abuse and need…"

Anyse Myers replied to the discussion 'How often do you weed your library?'
"We weed the adult fiction shelves on a regular basis, so we can have room to keep up with the current items. Circulation doesn't work here, as we are taking off what is NOT being read. The other areas of the library are reviewed on a rotation.…"

"I was unaware the children's library at church had weeds. Do we need to ask Derrick for weed-be-gone? Just kidding. What responses did you get. My guess is once a year."

Dee Wotring replied to the discussion 'How often do you weed your library?'
"If it is outdated, would it have been checked out? I don't know if I'd discard it if it were being checked out and read."

I'll do my best to come down Sun and look at it. If there is a picture on here somewhere I didn't see it. My version may not be any better. I just took a rose pot (tall and skinnier version) and painted a wide stipe of white, orange, and yellow to mock a candy corn. Then Rick painted a goofy smiley face and used a small wooden knob thing painted yellow for the nose. Currently, I have some fall leaf picks stuck in it on the coffee table.

Hey Teresa, sorry it took me so long to respond. I've been out of town and I'm catching up on my emails. I'll have to take a picture of the candy corn pot. It was simple to make and I got the candy sticks at the Cracker Barrel. You can buy them individually and I picked the flavors by their color since I wanted them to be in fall colors. I'm going to get some to put in our pots to use at the circulation desk. :)
What themes are you using for fall?

Welll you can see from the pictures that the READ hanging sign and the READ sheep both were ideas I got from the workshop last year with Bev League. Thanks Bev for sharing so many great ideas with us.

The counting jar sounds like it is lots of fun. I remember Sherri talking about it, but I don't remember what all she said. The candles is a neat idea though and something we can consider doing. I didn't realize that you were doing it monthly. You are so creative though, so I shouldn't be surpised. :)
